Overview

Ten days, every side of Egypt. This journey brings together the country's ancient wonders, its Mediterranean coast and its desert landscapes in one carefully paced itinerary, with a professional Egyptologist guide at your side throughout. You begin on the Giza Plateau with guided visits to the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum. The next day takes you deeper into the age of the pyramids at Dahshur, where you can step inside the inner chambers, then on to Memphis and the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara. The evening ends with dinner and a folklore show aboard a floating restaurant on the Nile. A flight takes you south to Aswan for Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, the High Dam and a Nubian village before you board your 5-star full-board Nile cruise. An included excursion to the Abu Simbel temples of Ramses II and Nefertari is followed by Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak and Luxor temples, and the Karnak Sound and Light Show. In Luxor, an included sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the West Bank gives you a bird's-eye view before you explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Back in Cairo, a day trip to Alexandria reveals the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Your final full day heads to Fayoum Oasis for Lake Qarun, the waterfalls of Wadi El Rayan, the Magic Lake, the Fossil Forest and a desert safari across the dunes, with optional sandboarding. Domestic flights, all ground transfers in air-conditioned vehicles, nine nights of accommodation including the cruise, and meals as listed in the itinerary are included.
