Overview

Ancient wonders first, then the beach. This ten-day holiday takes you from the Pyramids of Giza along the Nile on a 5-star cruise to the temples and tombs of Luxor, then finishes with three relaxing nights on the Red Sea in Hurghada, with a professional English-speaking Egyptologist guide for the sightseeing. After your arrival in Cairo, you spend a day at the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum before boarding the overnight train south to Aswan. In Aswan you join your 5-star full-board Nile cruise and visit Philae Temple, the Temple of Isis, along with the Unfinished Obelisk and the Aswan High Dam. The ship sails north to Kom Ombo Temple, then on to the Temple of Horus at Edfu before reaching Luxor for the Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple. On the West Bank you explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, and spend a night in Luxor. From Luxor, you transfer across to Hurghada on the Red Sea coast. The next days are yours to enjoy the sun, the sea and the beach, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, and optional Red Sea activities arranged locally if you want more. Your holiday ends with a transfer to Hurghada International Airport. Optional extras include a 5-star hotel upgrade in Cairo, a sleeper-train or flight upgrade to Aswan, the Abu Simbel temples, a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over Luxor and a visit to the Dendera Temple Complex on the way to Hurghada. You can also choose to start your trip in Hurghada instead of Cairo, for an additional cost.

The journey from Cairo to Aswan is on an overnight seated train; sleeper-train and flight upgrades are available on request. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sun protection are recommended, and swimwear for your Red Sea stay. Gratuities for guides, drivers and cruise staff are not included and are customary in Egypt.
