Overview

The pyramids, the Nile and the quiet beauty of the southern Red Sea in nine days. This journey combines the Pyramids of Giza, a 5-star full-board Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor and three nights at a 5-star all-inclusive resort in Marsa Alam, with a professional English-speaking Egyptologist guide for the sightseeing. After your arrival in Cairo, you spend a day on the Giza Plateau at the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the workers' town and ancient burial grounds, followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum. That evening you board the overnight train south to Aswan. In Aswan you visit Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Aswan High Dam, then join your cruise. The ship sails north to Kom Ombo Temple, then to Edfu Temple, before reaching Luxor for the Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple. On your last sightseeing morning, you explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on Luxor's West Bank. From Luxor, you transfer to Marsa Alam on the Red Sea, known for its coral reefs and calm, uncrowded coastline. Two full days at your resort follow, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, and optional snorkeling, diving, desert safaris and a city tour if you want to explore more. Optional extras also include a 5-star hotel upgrade in Cairo, the sound and light shows at the Pyramids and at Karnak, the Abu Simbel temples and a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over Luxor.
