Four days on the world's most storied river. This short, rich journey takes you from Cairo to Aswan by air, then north along the Nile aboard a 5-star full-board cruise, visiting the great temples of Upper Egypt with a professional Egyptologist guide. Your first day begins with a flight from Cairo to Aswan and embarkation on your cruise ship with lunch on board. In the afternoon you take a boat to Agilika Island for Philae Temple, the Temple of Isis, along with the Kiosk of Trajan and the Temple of Hathor, then visit the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan's ancient granite quarries and the Aswan High Dam. On day two the ship sails to Kom Ombo, the unusual double temple on the riverbank. Early risers can add an optional excursion to the Abu Simbel temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. Day three brings the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, before the ship reaches Luxor for the vast Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple. Your final morning is spent on Luxor's West Bank, exploring the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, with the option of starting the day on a sunrise hot-air balloon flight. The tour ends with a drop-off in Luxor. The flight from Cairo to Aswan, three nights aboard the cruise with meals as listed, and all ground transfers in air-conditioned vehicles are included.
