Overview
Eight days through the heart of ancient Egypt, with the temples of Abu Simbel included. This journey combines the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, a 5-star full-board Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, and the pyramids of Saqqara and Dahshur, with a professional English-speaking Egyptologist guide throughout. After your arrival in Cairo, your first full day takes you to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum and the treasures of Tutankhamun. A domestic flight takes you to Aswan for Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk before you board your cruise. The next day brings one of the highlights of any trip to Egypt: the colossal temples of Abu Simbel, included in your tour, followed by Kom Ombo Temple as the ship sails north. You then visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu before reaching Luxor for the Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple. On Luxor's West Bank you explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, then fly back to Cairo. Your last full day takes you to the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, the Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur, and Memphis, the ancient capital, with its museum of colossal statues. Domestic flights, the Abu Simbel excursion, seven nights of accommodation including the cruise, meals as listed in the itinerary and all ground transfers in air-conditioned vehicles are included. An evening Nile dinner cruise with a folklore show in Cairo is available as an optional extra.

The Abu Simbel excursion starts very early in the morning. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sun protection are recommended for the archaeological sites. Gratuities for guides, drivers and cruise staff are not included and are customary in Egypt.
